Most decks built in the 80s and 90s are at the end of their lives. Pressure-treated framing rots from the inside out, fasteners pop, and the boards become a trip hazard. Rather than patching, a lot of folks decide to start fresh — and that starts with getting the old one out cleanly.
We strip decks methodically: railings first, then decking, then framing, then footings. Ledger boards come off the house carefully so the siding stays intact for the next deck. Footings come out completely (not just cut at grade) when you want a clean buildable site.
